San Diego County coordinators I Love A Clean San Diego and San Diego Coastkeeper are pleased to announce that this years Coastal Cleanup Day was the most successful in San Diego County history. Thousands of volunteers collected about 100,000 pounds of debris! This success was due in part to the generosity of many local organizations and businesses who sponsored this years event.
This year, CCD was presented by the San Diego County Board of Supervisors, through the support of Supervisor Greg Cox, and Supervisor Pam Slater-Price. Countywide sponsors included Time Warner Cable and Sempra Energy, whose generosity and volunteer support were of great help to the event. Media sponsors included KGTV 10 News, Azteca America SD, KPRI 102.1FM, and Radio Latina 104.5. Other sponsors of this years event included: Cymer, Inc., the City of San Diego’s Think Blue Program, Digiteers, Vulcan Materials Company– Western Division, Palomar Transit Mix, Hornblower Cruises & Events, SeaWorld Adventure Park San Diego, J & S Travel, Clif Bar, Vitamin Water, Birch Aquarium, General Dynamics NASSCO, City of La Mesa, Fitness and Wellness Insurance, EDCO, Waste Management, Allied Waste Services, Newport Pizza & Alehouse, KEEN Footwear and Dog Beach Dog Wash.
